I would just like to say how proud I am to be named captain of Nene Park Golf Club, after what seems to have been a very short year as Vice Captain to Ben.
Please allow me to welcome Tae Gooding as the Ladies Captain and Brian Robinson who is in his 2nd year as Seniors Captain, I look forward to working closely with you both throughout the year. I would also like to offer a warm welcome to my Vice Captain Steve Butler, who will be on hand to work alongside me in the coming year and to see what he is letting himself in for!
I am honoured to follow in the footsteps of the many captains who have represented Nene Park Golf Club before me. I consider it a great privilege to be given this opportunity and I will do my utmost to be just as good as the previous incumbents.
My aspirations and plans for the year ahead are to keep moving forward and growing this club. We have introduced a new eclectic for the Midweek competitions, and I will be offering prizes for nearest the pin on the 11th in competitions moving forward. There are many other plans afoot and I hope to share more with you throughout the year.
During my short time as a member, I have seen the club grow in stature and many other ways. We have a course that is (mostly) playable all year round and an array of different competitions with great prizes up for grabs, we are very fortunate to be able to say that we are one of the few clubs in the county where we can play on our greens all year round.
Throughout 2022 Ben and I were lucky enough to receive superb support from our fellow members. Our team matches are always well supported. It would be great to see some new faces available for the interclub friendlies, men and mixed, we have throughout the season. All details of the teams are on ClubV1. Please do take time to look and offer your availability, we really would like new faces to represent the club at these fun and enjoyable matches.
For this year I have decided to support a familiar charity, one that has no doubt touched many of us in the area over the years, it is one that makes such a difference to families at a very difficult time – Sue Ryder. The Charity needs no introduction and I hope many of you give generously and support this great charity throughout the year.
I look forward to spending time on and off the golf course with friends both old and new this year.
Finally, I would just like to say have a great 2023 golfing season and I look forward to meeting many of you throughout the year, please do stop and say hello.
